RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion accepting City comment letter on Dakota County’s
Comprehensive Plan and directing staff to submit the letter
BACKGROUND
Cities and counties in the metropolitan region are currently in the process of completing development of
their 2040 Comprehensive Plans, as required by the Met Council. A component of that process is to
request comments from neighboring agencies to ensure that Comprehensive Plans work well together and
that all agencies are effectively communicating and sharing plans.
As such, Dakota County has asked that the cities in the County provide comments on Dakota County’s
draft Comprehensive Plan by October 1st. Staff has reviewed the County’s plan and would offer
comments on the attached letter for Council consideration. Because the County’s plan plays an integral
role in the City’s future, staff would appreciate Council feedback and authorization of the comment letter
prior to submittal.
Staff will further discuss the reasoning behind the comments included in the letter during the meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council make a motion accepting the City comment letter on Dakota
County’s Comprehensive Plan and directing staff to submit the letter.
