SUMMARY
The Rosemount High School Marching Band has long established its place as the gold standard for
musicianship at the high school level and as an ambassador for the community with its examples of
teamwork and accomplishment. That record continued this fall when the Band won the Minnesota State
Championship for the 12th time in recent years. The City Council tonight is proud to acknowledge the Irish
Marching Band’s continued excellence thanks to the hard work of these students, their teachers, and their
supporters.
In October, in Minneapolis, the Band won the “Youth in Music” grand championship and state
championship. Band members were also recognized for outstanding color guard and visuals. Earlier in the
competition season, the Band won the grand champion among performing groups in the Minnesota State
Fair’s parades, grand champion at competitions in Marshall and Eastview, and placed first at Irondale.
The season ended with the students’ performance at the Bands of America super-regional in Indianapolis.
Rosemount placed ninth out of 71 bands from the mid-section of the country. And as always, the Irish
Marching Band performed during athletic contests and other events.
Nearly 300 students strong, their accomplishments and dedication, along with that of their teachers and
supporting family members, reflects well on Rosemount and sets a model of excellence.
