ISSUE
The City will be hosting the 2019 Rosemount Home and Business Expo on March 16, 2019 from 9 to 3 at
the Community Center. At the present time we have 40 business booths committed with an additional
eleven booths dedicated to non-profits, the City, and children’s activities. There are 9 spaces still available
so if Commission Members know of anyone who would like to rent a booth, please put them in contact
with staff. As you can see from the list, there are a variety of businesses attending with thirteen related to
construction activities. There are also several local organizations such as the St. Joseph School and
Lighthouse Church which are new to the Expo.
We have begun implementing the marketing strategy for the Expo. Over the last several business emails,
we advertised for businesses to rent booths, but also used that opportunity to promote the Expo. The
Expo is posted on Facebook Event (325 “interested” or “going”), on the city website calendar and the
Chamber calendar of events. An Expo ad will also be running on the electronic billboard on Hwy 52
starting next week, which will be great exposure. The Expo will get top billing in the city newsletter that is
going out at the end of the month and the cable crew will be posting a video about the upcoming event.
Closer to Expo time, information will be posted on twitter, Nextdoor, Facebook, in the weekly email and
on the front page of the City website.
As mentioned previously, programming was added this year for adults, with a composting information
session and a Partners in Energy presentation for homeowners. There will be two activities for kids during
the same time periods so parents of older kids can leave them while attending the presentation. There will
be three food trucks and there will be tables set up so people can sit and eat.
Various staff will be in attendance during the event but Port members are welcome to assist in welcoming
residents and handing out bags. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know.
