ISSUE
On February 7, the City hosted the 2019 Business Appreciation lunch. The event had 116 individuals that
RSVP’d for the event; unfortunately the weather reduced the gathering by approximately 25. David
Newman from Newland Communities spoke at the event, along with Mayor Droste and Chair Weisensel.
The presentation about Vermillion Crossing seemed well received and that might have helped drive some
of the affirmative attendance responses.
During our February meeting there was some discussion about following up with businesses in the
community to determine why they did not attend the event. We used the same invitation business list and
sent out a quick survey monkey survey. The survey was to everyone, attendees and non-attendees, with the
hopes of finding out what works and what doesn’t; what would be of interest or why people aren’t
attending. Of the approximately 200 surveys sent out we received responses from 24, 13 attendees and 11
non-attendees. The attachments provide the feedback received.
RECOMMENDATION
There is no additional follow up proposed at this time. Scheduling of the speaker for next year should take
into consideration the responses received through the survey.
