BACKGROUND
Throughout the goal setting process of the last few months, the Council has placed a clear priority on
the need to further bolster our efforts toward economic development in the City. One of the
immediate strategies suggested is the hiring of an additional staff member to support these efforts.
Staff has researched job descriptions from a number of our peer communities, and a job description
has been developed that encompasses the initiatives this new position would undertake.
A final draft version of the job description will be sent to Council on Monday. At the work session,
staff intends to walk through the features of the job description and to discuss next steps in the hiring
process. Feedback from the Council will be requested and is appreciated.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council provide comment and direction on the Economic Development
Specialist job description.
