ISSUE
At a previous Port Authority meeting the group discussed the Dakota County Regional Chamber of
Commerce, which serves Rosemount along with 7 other cities in Dakota County. As many Commissioners
are aware, current President Maureen Scallen-Failor is fairly new to the Chamber so it is prudent to invite
Maureen to the Port meeting for an update.
Maureen will provide the group with an overview of the Chamber’s goals, vision, and current initiatives.
Because the Chamber is a regional organization, the ability to provide direct support to Rosemount is
often discussed. In other words, what is the Chamber doing specifically for Rosemount businesses, and
what does the Chamber forecast for the future in order to emphasize the local needs of each community.
Issues raised by the Port Authority in the past relate to partnering on events such as the Home and
Business Expo, Women’s Night Out, or other similar types of events.
Other previous questions relate to how to drive participation by local businesses in the Chamber and what
at the goals and objectives of the Chamber that will impact local businesses. These and other questions
can be discussed at the meeting.
