Retail Strategies Website EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Port Authority Meeting Date: April 16, 2019 AGENDA ITEM: Retail Strategies Website AGENDA SECTION: New Business PREPARED BY: Kim Lindquist, Deputy Director AGENDA NO. 6.c ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Information Item ISSUE Last month this item was scheduled for Port Authority discussion. However, the website access was down during the meeting and we were unable to have the discussion. The link is working as of this writing and therefore, staff is placing the item back on the agenda for discussion and review. In 2018, the City entered into a contract with Retail Strategies to provide retail attraction work for the City of Rosemount. A main feature of this agreement is a website highlighting Rosemount, and includes activities that Retail Strategies can perform. Staff will introduce the website to the Port Authority at the meeting; asking for feedback on the current layout. By way of background, the City has its own website and the decision was made when starting with the current vendor, to have a spot designated for Economic Development. Economic Development is one of four menu items that is listed on every page; highlighting its importance. The Port Authority discussed the items to be included within the ED website and certainly a refresh is needed. Staff anticipates that the new Economic Development Specialist staff person will play a large role in managing our website. When publishing the City website there was also discussion whether there should be a separate ED website, not housed within the framework of the City’s website. It was decided people would most likely go to the City’s site and therefore it would be important that the ED section was housed there. Staff has verified that the Retail Strategies website is only available to the City during the contract time period. At this time staff is requesting feedback on the Retail Strategies ED website. Staff will provide comments to the Retail Strategies team to make appropriate changes. RECOMMENDATION Information item.
