submitted by St. Croix Recreation/Burke to be installed at Winds Park.
BACKGROUND
On February 21, 2019 staff held a neighborhood meeting to gather input about the future playground
from the people living near Winds Park. Based on the information shared with staff at the meeting, a
Request for Proposal (RFP) was created for the playground. A copy of the RFP is included in the packet.
The City received a total of seven proposals for Winds Park. A copy of each playground proposal is
included in the packet along with an information summary sheet. All proposals shown are within the
$80,000 budget allocated in the 2019 CIP.
On Monday, April 8, staff held a joint meeting with the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Youth
Commission to review the playground proposals. Staff also invited residents living near the park to take
part in the review and evaluation process.
Those reviewing the equipment felt the proposal from St. Croix Recreation/Burke had a good mix of
traditional playground equipment with the addition of some of the new atypical equipment.
All Commission members recommended the City Council purchase the equipment from St. Croix
Recreation/Burke.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending that the City Council approve the purchase of playground equipment for Winds
Park as submitted by St. Croix Recreation/Burke.
