RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Declare the Listed Items as Surplus Property and
Authorize Staff to Sell or Dispose of them.
BACKGROUND
The Fire Department is requesting that the City Council declare equipment as surplus property. This
declaration will authorize staff to appropriately dispose of these items.
The Fire Department has recently replaced their hydraulic vehicle extrication equipment with new and
state of the art Hurst Battery operated extrication equipment. The new extrication equipment is much
more reliable, provides more foot pounds of torque and is much faster than the old equipment. The two
sets of retired Genesis extrication equipment were purchased approximately 19 years ago and have lost its
effectiveness over the years.
Once the items have been declared surplus property, staff will sell them utilizing on line resources or to
another interested party. This process of selling surplus equipment is the same process that has been used
previously to dispose of surplus equipment.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends Council authorization to declare these items as surplus property and authorize staff to
sell or dispose of them.
