ATTACHMENTS: Change Order 1 APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve Change Order 1 as part of 2018 Street Improvement Project, City Project 2018-01 BACKGROUND On June 19, 2018, City Council awarded the construction contract for 2018 Street Improvement Project, City Project 2018-01, to McNamara Contracting. The majority of the project was completed last fall. McNamara Contracting has requested the attached change order to cover the cost of items (irrigation repair, landscaping restoration and replacement of an impacted water valve cover) not included in the original contract. To complete the restoration work in a timely manner, staff authorized the contractor to proceed. Staff is bringing this item before Council to insure they are aware of the additional expense of $30,741.43 (2.9% of the contracted amount) needed for this work. COST AND FUNDING A summary of the Bid Tabulation including the Engineer’s Estimate is shown in the following table. The contract awarded was approximately $262,320.05 or 20% below the Engineer’s Estimate. Table 1 – Bid Tabulation Engineer’s Estimate McNamara Contracting, Inc. This cost will be funded by the Street CIP Fund ($30,281.43) and the Water Utility Fund ($460.00). Assessments will not be modified. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends Council pass the recommended motion which will approve the change order for 2018 Street Improvement Project, City Project 2018-01.
