ATTACHMENTS: Proclamation Declaring May 19-25, 2019 National Public Works Week in Rosemount APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve Proclamation The Rosemount Public Works Department is a team of 24 people dedicated to maintaining a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all residents and businesses. The department mission is to enhance the quality of life through responsive, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of services consistent with community values. The Public Works Supervisor and Public Works Coordinator work together with three Crew Lead members and a Facility Specialist to schedule, coordinate, and manage the day-to-day projects and activities. An administrative assistant manages the administrative needs of the department. An Assistant City Engineer and Senior Engineering Technician provide technical assistance and project management to major construction projects. As we approach National Public Works Week, we would like to commend the following individuals for their tireless effort, contribution and service to the public: Derick Anderson Jessie Barikmo Tor Berkeland Will Boyd Tony Braun Tony Caterina John Cusack Eric Day Kurt Hadler Doug Holzer Dick Howe Chuck Jacobus Brady Johnson AJ Korpela Jim Koslowski Greg Lund Brent McGraw Aaron Menza Bill Murphy Ryan Rausch Brady Schmitt Stephanie Smith Christine Watson Joe Werden In recognition of the commitment of our City government to maintain a safe and effective infrastructure for a growing community, the City Council is asked to join in the designation of May 19-25 as National Public Works Week. The national theme of this observance is “It Starts Here.” This theme represents the many facets of modern civilization that grow out of the efforts put forth by public works professionals. Infrastructure, growth, innovation, mobility, security and healthy communities start with public works. The bottom line is that citizens’ quality of life starts with public works. PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, public works services provided in the City of Rosemount are an integral part of our citizens’ everyday lives; and WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is vital to the efficient operation of public works systems and programs such as water, sewers, streets, and public buildings; and WHEREAS, the health, safety and comfort of Rosemount residents greatly depends on these facilities and services; and WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design, and construction is vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of public works officials; NOW THEREFORE, as Mayor of the City of Rosemount, I hereby do proclaim the week of May 19 through 25, 2019 as National Public Works Week in the City of Rosemount. I call upon all the citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the issues involved in providing our public works and to recognize the contributions which public works officials make every day to our health, safety, comfort and quality of life.
