SUMMARY
Police Commander Mike Dahlstrom was named Interim Police Chief on February 28 after the retirement
of Chief Mitch Scott. Because Chief Scott’s retirement was unanticipated, the decision to name
Commander Dahlstrom as Interim Chief for a period of time was prudent to provide stability and a
coordinated transition. Interim Chief Dahlstrom has performed admirably throughout this transition. It is
now necessary to solidify next steps in filling this important leadership position.
City Council direction is sought on the desired process moving forward to fill the Police Chief vacancy.
City staff will present feedback on their observations on the status of the Department and the leadership
needed to continue moving the agency forward.
