CALL TO ORDER: Eliason called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

6. OLD BUSINESS:
a. Indoor Recreation Facilities Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study Update -
Director Schultz provided information to the Commission about the work that has been completed as
of the meeting on Monday the 24th of June.
7. NEW BUSINESS:
a. Schwarz Pond Park — Nature Based Playground -
Staff has worked with nature play design firm, Fern Firm, to help design the play features. The design
includes several nature play components and also includes a 65 foot zip line. The reason this design is
being called preliminary is because the project will be more of a design build once we start seeing what
natural materials we have to work with. The border for the project will be stacked stone like what we
have at Jaycee, Connemara and Ailesbury Parks.
b. Director's Report
Park Improvement Fund Balance as of May 31, 2019: $1,345,124.78
Inflows to the Park Improvement Fund last month were as follows:

Expenditures - $29, 447.35 (UMore Ballfield Dugouts, Caramore Crossing and Horseshoe Lake
Park)
Spring Egg Hunt - The weather finally cooperated for the annual Lion's Club Spring Egg Hunt which
was held on the backup date of Saturday, April 20 at the Ames Soccer Complex at DCTC. We had a great
crowd and were thrilled to receive 406.5 pounds of food, toiletries and infant items for the Rosemount
Family Resource Center and 360 Communities.
Arbor Day - The City of Rosemount celebrated its 27thAnnual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway on May 4tn. A
brief program was hosted by Mayor Droste and 180 trees were given out to residents. This event is
cosponsored by Dakota Electric Association.
ROSEMOUNT COMMUNITY TENNIS NIGHT - A great time was had by all at the annual Tennis
Night! This free event was hosted by the Rosemount High School Boys Varsity Tennis Team and
Boosters. The varsity players led fun introductory tennis games and drills for the kids, then challenged
Hastings in their scheduled evening match under the lights at Erickson Tennis Courts. The Parks and
Recreation Department partners with the Boys Tennis Team and coach every other year to provide this
fun event to the community. Thank you to Dana Hansen, head Boys Tennis coach and Tennis Booster
Club parents for organizing this fun event.
Family Resource Center Bids - The project was recently put out to bid and staff were pleased with the
results of the bid opening that took place on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. There were a total of five
contractors on the plan holders list and a total of five bids were received. The bid results are listed below:

Rosemount Tea - A group of 24 ladies put on their best bonnets and gathered at the Steeple Center for
our first annual spring tea event, "A Tea to Remember". This year's event had a wedding theme, so
attendees brought photos from their own weddings or another important day in their past, and some
brought in their own tea cups and pots. Everyone shared stories and memories behind their special items,
while a variety of teas, yummy appetizers, and fun, fancy desserts were served. It was a wonderful
afternoon of reminiscing and springtime celebration.
Clean Up Day - Our annual Spring Clean-up day was held on Saturday, May 18 at DCTC. Luckily, in
spite of the forecast for heavy rain most of the day, the morning was dry and the event was very well
attended. Over 450 vehicles came through the site that day, making this our most successful event in over
15 years. Unfortunately, the line of cars waiting to get into the site was so long it stretched out to and
along County Road 42 in front of the DCTC campus. We have only received a little bit of data so far
about the materials we collected on Saturday: 89 mattresses were collected for recycling, 6,700 pounds of
paper were shredded, and 32.65 tons of construction and demolition debris was collected and hauled to a
demolition landfill.
Goats in Erickson Park — The City of Rosemount recently hosted a herd of goats in Erickson Park
along the west side of the Koch Trail. The goats have been hired to eat invasive plants including
buckthorn and garlic mustard.
