RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve Change Order #5 for the Flint Hills Athletic
Complex project.
BACKGROUND
The second phase of improvements are currently nearing completion at the Flint Hills Athletic Complex.
As you may recall, the improvements are to include four new green fields, sun shelter, trails, parking lot,
access road, and landscaping.
As the project has progressed, the City has processed some change orders that added extra costs to the
project. For this change order, the contractor on the project has submitted a change order for a deduct of
$2,500 to because the warehouse who painted the sun shelter from used the wrong color. The only people
who will notice the wrong color are staff and the contractor.
This change order will lower the price of the project rather than having an increase.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending the City Council approve Change Order #5 for the Flint Hills Athletic Complex
which will result in a deduct of $2,500 from the project.

Attached you will find Change Order #5 related to the referenced project based on a deduct for retaining the
shelter frame color as previously discussed with you and the contractor per email correspondence. Please
review and, if acceptable to you, sign and date the Owner section of the Change Order form. Once formally
processed, please keep for your records and provide me with a copy via email.
