RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion that the City Council approves purchasing the two
scoreboards for the Rosemount Ice Arena from Daktronics through the Minnesota Service
Cooperative Contract.
BACKGROUND
Staff is requesting the City Council to approve the purchase of new scoreboards for the Rosemount Arena.
The 2020 CIP budget includes funding for the new boards. The scoreboards are an integral part of the ice
arena operations and are expected to be working at all times. The existing scoreboards are the original
units that were added to the arena when the building was constructed in 1993/1994. The boards have
outlived their useful life and are in need of replacement.
Parks and Recreation staff have found a local business to advertise on the scoreboards. The advertising
fees will be collected over several years and will cover the cost of the scoreboards.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends purchasing the new scoreboards through the Minnesota Service Cooperative Contract
(MSCC) at a cost of $29,200. The MSCC is a purchasing co-operative that pre-bids several items so that
member organizations get the lowest possible price on their purchases.

Thank you for giving AIM Electronics the opportunity of presenting you an updated proposal for the purchase of
new hockey scoreboards and accessories for the Rosemount Ice Arena.
Per your verbal specifications, I have attached a price quotation on the Daktronics models H-2101, H-2103, H-
2111 and H-2102 standard hockey scoreboards and accessories. The new LED technology is rated for minimal
maintenance, has lower power consumption and greater visibility.
As you know, AIM Electronics is the area representative for Daktronics. We provide sales, installation and local
service, in addition to an excellent warranty policy and exchange program which minimizes the cost of any
repair. We have been serving the area’s scoring and display needs for thirty four (34) years. I will call you no

*Indoor Installation Notes: AIM Electronics will remove existing scoreboards from the wall, mount new
scoreboards and provide in-person operator training at a later date agreed upon by school and salesman. Arena
must provide air lift that can reach the rafters for AIM Electronics to use during installation. If an air lift is not
available, AIM Electronics will rent one and bill it back to the school once installation is complete (estimated at
$650). Disposal of packing/shipping materials is the responsibility of the arena; AIM Electronics will throw the
packing/shipping materials into a dumpster of the school’s choice on site. Arena is responsible for unloading of
shipment when equipment arrives. AIM Electronics will request a delivery truck with a lift gate.
Standard Exclusions: Electrical installation must be completed by a licensed electrician hired by arena. AIM
Electronics requires full access to the facility for the duration of the installation to include but not limited to:
Lifts, ladders, power tools, etc. AIM Electronics is not responsible for the integrity of existing walls, structures,
etc.
