RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve the Reappointment of Bruce Sword as Fire
Secretary for a Period of Three Years.
BACKGROUND
This is a recommendation to appoint Bruce Sword to the position of Fire Secretary for three years. The
current term is expiring, and according to Fire Department policy, the Secretary is to be selected from
applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the position.
In this application process, Bruce Sword was the only applicant. Bruce has served as the Fire Secretary for
the past eleven years and has been a member of the department since 2003. He is well qualified to
continue in this position and it is thereby recommended that his assignment to the position of Fire
Secretary be confirmed by the Council this evening.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the Reappointment of Bruce Sword as Fire Secretary for a period
of three years.
