RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to receive donation from Flint Hills Resources and
approve expenditure for the purchase of two sets of child size fire turnout gear
BACKGROUND
The Council is asked to approve the donation of $2,424.00 from Flint Hills Resources as well as approve
the expenditure of the donation to purchase two sets of child size fire turnout gear.
During various community events as well as during the annual fire open house, staff are often asked by
children at these events to try on real fire gear. Although we are very diligent in maintaining our fire gear
and keeping them clean, we felt it would be much safer to have clean child size gear for them to try on.
We reached out to Flint Hills Resources and they felt this was a great idea and they provided the donation
to cover two sets of gear.
The gear will be purchased from Emergency Response Solutions LLC. The two sets of gear will be near
exact replicas of our current gear, only in a smaller size.
RECOMMEDNATION
The Fire Department recommends approval of the donation from Flint Hills Resources as well as the
purchase of the fire turnout gear.
