REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
March 19, 2019
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Environmental & Sustainability Task
Force (Task Force) of the City of Rosemount was called to order on March 19, 2019 at 5:39 p.m. in
the Conference Room of City Hall, 2875 145th St West, Rosemount.
Attendees included Task Force Members: John Smith (co-chair), Katie Koch-Laveen, Joanne
Johnson, Karen Malkowski, Mark Glende, Vanessa DeMuth, and Victoria Schlautman.
Staff present included the following;
- Public Works Director Brian Erickson.
ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
No additions or corrections were noted.
APPROVAL OF THE MAY MINUTES
No corrections or additions were noted.

PRESENTATIONS
None
OLD BUSINESS
a. Proposed Climate Resolution (3/5 Work Session)
Brian Erickson updated the Task Force on the proposed climate resolution discussion, and
noted that it will possibly be passed as a letter and not as a resolution at the next city council
meeting.
b. Booth Banner Update
Discussion was centered on whether or not the task force should wait to order a flag for
events or to order another sort of banner. If it is decided to order a flag- the section “Task
Force” will be removed. More quotes will be received by vendors, as well.
c. Subcommittee Reports
1. Comprehensive Plan Comments
The group went over the comp plan comments that had been gathered and crafted
by Vanessa, Renee, and Victoria. See attached. Additional comments were added by
other task force members and will be forwarded onto city staff. The document will
be updated and passed sent to Task Force Members via city liaison, for any
additional commentary or additions.

2. Energy Action Plan
- Residential Outreach: No comments
- Business Outreach: No comments
- Places of Faith Outreach: Victoria Schlautman has attempted to establish a
connection with St. Joseph Catholic Church in a continued work to establish a best
practices baseline that can be shared with other local faith institutions.
3. Website and Social Media Communications
- Weekly posting on the “Conserve and Preserve Rosemount”: We will be creating
more content and sharing it with Jes to expand on. They will be connected to topics
that are current and related to events happening. Additionally Joanne Johnson,
Vanessa DeMuth, and Renee Burman will be reviewing the content before it’s
posted.
- Website updates: Joanne Johnson will update the website, specifically working on
the Energy Action Plan.
4. Events
- Home and Business Expo: The Expo went over very well with the top attractions
being the energy audits and a Bee House. Attendance was equal or more than last
year.
- Earth Day Litter Clean Up: at this time there will not be an Earth Day Clean Up
event.
- Leprechaun Days: Katie Koch-Laveen will be leading this event and will give any
updates as they approach.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
This is Mark Glende’s last meeting and we appreciate the successes he has brought to the team and
for his years of service and creativity.
