REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 16, 2018
1. Call to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Environmental & Sustainability Task
Force of the City of Rosemount was called to order on January 16, 2018 at 5:32 p.m. in the
Conference Room of City Hall, 2875 145th St West, Rosemount. Attendees included Task Force
Members: Mark Glende, Rebecca Higgins, Wade Miller, Renee Burman, Karen Malkowski, and
Katie Koch-Laveen. Staff present: City of Rosemount Senior Engineer Technician Derick
Anderson, City of Rosemount Public Works Director Brian Erickson.
2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
There were no additions or corrections to the agenda.
3. APPROVAL OF November 17, 2017 MINUTES
Motion by Glende Second by Burman

Nays: 0. Motion carried.
4. PRESENTATIONS
There were no presentations
5. OLD BUSINESS
a. Partners in Energy – Workshops 2 & 3
Attendees from the Task Force: Mark Glende, Wade Miller, Vanessa DeMuth, Katie Koch-Laveen,
Derick Anderson, Brian Erickson and many businesses sent representatives and City Officials also
attended. PiE will have a total of 5 workshops, the last workshop (#3) was held on Monday, January
8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at The Rosemount Steeple Center. The next workshop is scheduled for
February 12, 2018 at The Rosemount Steeple Center. Members of PiE were split up into four
groups; each group had a specific focus pertaining to Municipal, Home Owners, Medium-Large
Business and Large energy users. Each group worked on short and long term goals and strategies.
Some of the ideas to come out of these groups were to create a GREEN AWARD to recognize
businesses that are energy efficient, reduce energy use through efficient building operation and
demonstrate Municipal leadership by promoting prior and current efforts to reduce energy use in
city buildings.
b. City Council Update
Higgins gave an overview at the City Council meeting on November 21, 2017 to update the City
Council on REST’s ongoing activities and accomplishments. After the presentation, the city
unanimously voted for a 2 year continuance of the Task Force and to vote to increase the members
from 7 to 9 at a future city council meeting. The Mayor has asked the Environmental &
Sustainability Task Force to draft a budget and to bring that draft to one of the upcoming meetings.
6. NEW BUSINESS
a. Invitation to Alliance for Sustainability
January 18, 2018 Higgins will be attending the Alliance for Sustainability Seminar. The
seminar is for high ambitious cites and cities with a proven track record with energy
efficiency.
b. Budget Workshop
Discussion on a budget meeting was brought to the floor. The budget was discussed and
decided upon to have a meeting in mid-February sometime before the next REST
scheduled meeting.
c. Expo
Home & Business Expo will be held on March 3, 2018 at the Rosemount Community
Center from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. REST members will participate. It is unknown at this time if
REST will share a table with the city or have their own space. We will discuss at the next
meeting what handouts to have present and what our main focus will be.
