ATTACHMENTS: Change Order #5 and Letter from Project Architect APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve Change Order #5 for the Family Resource Center Project. BACKGROUND In the summer of 2019, the City Council awarded a bid for the expansion of the Family Resource Center. The project is coming to the end but during the construction of the project a few changes have been needed that have resulted in staff requesting the City Council to consider approving change order #5. The changes that are incorporated in the attached Change Order #5 are the following: CR 34 Dogging Exit Device CR 32r Paint Door #104 CR 35 Patch Thermostat Relocation in Activity Room. The total of the three requests is $1028.61. Please see the attached AIA Document and architect letter for further details. RECOMMENDATION Staff is recommending the City Council approve Change Order #5 for the Family Resource Center expansion project. Background: The construction on the Rosemount Family Resource Center project has reached substantial competition. There are just a few items left to finish on the exterior of the building in the spring and the tenant, 360 Communities has moved into the space During the past few months a few items have come up to improve the facility. These items are summarized below. Description of Changes: The changes that are incorporated in the attached Change Order #05 are the following: A. Door Exit Device: This change addressed adjustments to door to best meet code and the needs of 360 Communities. B. Paint Existing Door: This change included painting an existing exterior door to match the new doors. C. Patch Wall: This change provides for patching the drywall to relocate a thermostat. All prices have been reviewed by CNH Architects and our consultant team and have been determined to be within appropriate unit costs for the work proposed. A. Door Exit Device Add $368.50 B. Paint Door 104 Add $440.00 C. Patch Wall Add $220.11 Total Add $1,028.61 New Contract Total $1,031,410.46 Original Contingency (10%) $98,280.00 Contingency Balance $49,669.54 Conclusion: The items in the Change Order represent recommended upgrades to best serve the city and staff using this facility. As noted above CNH Architects, our team, and staff have reviewed the pricing shown above and are comfortable as being appropriate for the work involved.
