HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.a. 6-16-20 Regular Meeting MinutesROSEMOUNT PORT AUTHORITY REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS June 16, 2020 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Port Authority was held on June 16, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in Rosemount Council Chambers 2875 145th Street West. Chair Weisensel called the meeting to order with Commissioners Droste, Freske, Wolf, Essler, Block, Ober in attendance. Staff present included Executive Director Martin, Deputy Director Lindquist, Economic Development Coordinator Van Oss and City Clerk Fasbender. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Executive Director Martin stated there were no changes to the agenda. Motion by Weisensel Second by Essler Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 7 Nays: 0. Motion carried. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Wolf Second by Block Motion to Approve of May 19, 2020 Meeting Minutes Ayes: Droste, Block, Ober, Weisensel, Essler, Freske, Wolf Nays: 0. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS 4.a. Project Updates Economic Development Coordinator Van Oss discussed the status of current projects. The Morrison redevelopment had a groundbreaking and staff showed a video highlighting the event. The video will be shared with the public at a later date. The Commissioners asked additional information be added relating to the project such as it was a private sale, it is not a city project, and the timing for demolition and new construction. Noodles and Company will be opening this summer. Rudy’s will be rebranding, but the ownership will remain the same and they are aiming to open after Labor Day. Medi-Car has announced they will be closing due to a variety of reasons; Debi McConnell send an email to staff and posted a farewell on Facebook. Staff distributed the Request for Proposal for the commercial site visioning. Staff will share the scoring criteria and expectations of the RFP with the Port Authority at the July meeting. Interviews with selected companies will occur at the end of July. The Port Authority commented on the amount of apartments recently approved and wondered how many are needed in the community. Ms. Lindquist noted Maxfield has conducted a draft Dakota ROSEMOUNT PORT AUTHORITY REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS June 16, 2020 Countywide market study and will follow up with information about each City. Staff will provide that information when it becomes available. NEW BUSINESS 5.a. COVID Update Economic Development Coordinator Van Oss discussed the City’s continued efforts during COVID-19 to assist businesses. Mr. Van Oss noted restaurants, gyms, and salons have since reopened at reduced indoor capacity per the latest guidelines from Governor Walz. Staff is working with Communications Director Lee Stoffel on creating a branded window cling for businesses. The Rosemount Cares initiative will promote our local businesses and what they are doing to make their operations safe for customers and employees. Similar to the restaurant takeout video, staff is planning on producing a series of videos highlighting new operating procedures of local establishments. CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT Chair Weisensel mentioned his attendance to the National League of Cities summer online meetings and noted a few highlights from his attendance. DIRECTOR’S REPORT None REPORTS FROM PORT AUTHORITY COMMISSIONERS Commissioner Ober questioned if the Farmer’s Market took place this past Saturday.
