RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the attached resolution designating the
temporary polling places for the 2020 general election
BACKGROUND
MN Statute 204B.175 states; When an emergency occurs after the deadline to designate a polling
place pursuant to section 204B.16 but before the polls close on election day, a new polling place may
be designated for that election pursuant to this section. For purposes of this section, an emergency is
any situation that prevents the safe, secure, and full operation of a polling place. Because of the
pandemic, some polling locations are no longer available or prevents the safe, secure, and full
operation of a polling place.
Staff proposes the following as the new temporary polling places for the November 3, 2020 election;
Precinct 1 & 5: Rosemount Community Center, 13885 South Robert Trail
* Precinct 1 located in Banquet Hall and Precinct 5 (formerly Our
Savior’s Church) located in Auditorium
Precinct 2 & 7: Hope Fieldhouse, 2645 145th Street W
*Dividing walls will be placed to separate the two precincts. Precinct
2 is formerly St. John’s Church and Precinct 7 is formerly Hosanna
Church
Precinct 3: First Baptist Church, 14400 Diamond Path West
*No change – same as Primary Election
Precinct 4: Rosemount Steeple Center, 14375 South Robert Trail
*No change – same as Primary Election
Precinct 6: The Well, 14770 Canada Ave W
*Location changed from the Steeple Center at the August primary
back to its previous location of The Well as the site is now available.
These updates will be shared on our City and Minnesota Secretary of State Website and mailers will
be sent out on behalf of the county detailing the update in polling locations to those who have a
change. The updates will also be included in our City newsletter which will be mailed to all residents
mid-October.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the attached Resolution designating the polling locations for the 2020 General Election.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DESIGNATION OF
TEMPORARY POLLING PLACES FOR 2020
GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Rosemount needs to re-locate polling
locations for the 2020 General Elections; and
WHEREAS, MN Statute 204B.175 states; When an emergency occurs after the deadline to
designate a polling place pursuant to section 204B.16 but before the polls close on election day, a
new polling place may be designated for that election pursuant to this section; and
WHEREAS, for purposes of this section, an emergency is any situation that prevents the safe,
secure, and full operation of a polling place.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Rosemount hereby designates the
following precinct locations for the 2020 General Election;
Precinct 1 & 5: Rosemount Community Center, 13885 South Robert Trail
Precinct 2 & 7: Hope Fieldhouse, 2645 145th Street W
Precinct 3: First Baptist Church, 14400 Diamond Path West
Precinct 4: Rosemount Steeple Center, 14375 South Robert Trail
Precinct 6: The Well, 14770 Canada Ave W
ADOPTED this 15th day of September, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
