ATTACHMENTS: Example of Service Agreement APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Discuss partnership opportunities with the Rosemount Community Band and interest in establishing a formal Service Agreement with the group. BACKGROUND Over the past year, staff has been in discussions with representatives of the Rosemount Community Band on increasing our collaboration with the group. The group features a full concert band, a jazz ensemble, and a few smaller groups. Typically, the group performs at the City’s Tree Lighting ceremony along with a few community concerts and events throughout the year. There are a number of ways the City could further assist the Band in their efforts as a non-profit organization. A few examples of potential support that have been discussed include: • Reduced rates / free usage of rooms at the RCC of Steeple Center for periodic practices • Assistance printing / copying music • Shared equipment (trailer) to transport instruments and supplies for concerts • Possible insurance coverage extended to the Band (pending confirmation of this option with LMC) The above list conveys some of the items of potential collaboration that staff and the Community Band have discussed. As we’ve done with other groups (such as RAAC, which is the umbrella the group is currently operating under), the best way to solidify this partnership would be through a Service Agreement with the Band. Included in the agreement with the Band would details on the support the City can provide, along with the expected performances delivered annually by the groups. Based on Council discussion at the work session, staff would work with the Band and legal counsel to solidify a service agreement with the Band. That agreement and its specifics would return to the Council for potential authorization at a future meeting. RECOMMENDATION Staff requests that the City Council discuss the opportunity to formulate a service agreement with the Rosemount Community Band and provide further direction.
