HomeMy WebLinkAbout20201020 Regular MinutesROSEMOUNT PORT AUTHORITY REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS OCTOBER 20, 2020 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Port Authority was held on October 20, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in Rosemount Council Chambers 2875 145th Street West. Chair Weisensel called the meeting to order with Commissioners Droste, Freske, Essler, Block, Ober in attendance. Commissioner Wolf was absent. Staff present included Executive Director Martin, Deputy Director Lindquist, Economic Development Coordinator Van Oss and City Clerk Fasbender. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Executive Director Martin stated there were no changes to the agenda. Motion by Weisensel Second by Essler Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 7 Nays: 0. Motion carried. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Wolf Second by Freske Motion to Approve Consent Agenda Ayes: Droste, Block, Ober, Weisensel, Essler, Freske, Wolf Nays: 0. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS 4.a. Project Updates Economic Development Coordinator Van Oss discussed the status of current projects and highlighted the Morrison foundation and utility work is nearly complete. The developer is anticipating people will be able to move in late summer of 2021. Additionally, the Clover has submitted a building permit to construct a bar in part of their outdoor patio space. The Lorenz Clinic is nearly complete, and a ribbon cutting has been scheduled with the Guitar Shop. 4.b. COVID Update Economic Development Coordinator Van Oss discussed the City’s continued efforts during COVID-19 to assist businesses. Most of the businesses eligible for the Rosemount CARES grant have likely applied and staff does not anticipate more applications before the November 9th deadline. Dakota County will be providing an additional grant opportunity for home businesses. Staff will promote the new County program to Rosemount businesses. ROSEMOUNT PORT AUTHORITY REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS OCTOBER 20, 2020 NEW BUSINESS 5.a. Shop Local Initiative Staff has discussed moving forward with a shop local initiative and is looking to gauge the Port Authority’s interest level. Several different ideas were discussed. Port Authority was in support of the ideas and encouraged staff to move forward. 5.b. Discussion of Visioning Exercise Economic Development Coordinator Van Oss discussed the recent visioning session held on October 13, 2020. Port Authority members discussed their feedback regarding the Charrette and all are interested in seeing what the outcome is.
