BACKGROUND
Perkins and Will held a Commercial Site Visioning Joint Session on October 13 , 2020. The consultant put
together a presentation and group activities based on their initial City Council interviews from September.
Members of the City Council, Port Authority, and Planning Commission were broken into groups for a
design Charrette. This design exercise was facilitated by Perkins and Will staff who guided the discussion
around high-level design principles for the four selected sites. Topics discussed included land use, access,
and site character. This December 15, 2020, Port Authority meeting is the second of three community
design forums.
Perkins and Will staff used the information gleaned from the Charrette activity to develop initial site design
and concept plans. Perkins and Will staff has provided multiple alternatives for each of the sites. The
proposed concepts incorporate the Charrette insights with market trends and the City’s Land Use Plan. The
consultant will present their initial concepts prior to a group activity. These concept plans will be virtually
accessible via the Miro application. Members of the City Council, Port Authority, and Planning Commission
will be able to place comments/sticky notes on each of the site plans. Comments and feedback from this
exercise will then be incorporated into what will become the final renderings. The consultants will review
the exercise in more detail during the meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
Discuss any issues regarding the initial concept plans and provide feedback to Perkins and Will.
