HomeMy WebLinkAbout20210112 Goal Setting Special Work Session ProceedingsROSEMOUNT CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL WORK SESSION PROCEEDINGS JANUARY 12, 2021 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special work session of the Rosemount City Council was held on Tuesday, January 12, at 3:00 pm at the Rosemount Community Center, 13885 S Robert Trail, Rosemount. Mayor Droste called the meeting to order with Councilmember Weisensel, Freske, Block and Essler. Staff present included, City Administrator Martin, Chief of Police Dahlstrom, Assistant City Administrator Foster, Community Development Director Lindquist, Public Works Director/City Engineer Erickson, Parks & Recreation Director Schultz and Finance Director May. Guests present included, facilitator Dr. Richard Fursman and Megan Jacobson from Hue Life Inc. 2.a. Strategic Planning & Goals Session City Council and staff discussed the current Strategic Plan and the role it plays in working to establish a new 5-year guiding document. Dr. Fursman guided the Council and staff through a review of the pre-existing Strategic Plan and the accomplishments, setbacks, and obstacles that have occurred in the proceeding years. The group worked in pairs to develop lists of items for each topic, and the larger group reviewed the overall perspectives shared on each topic area. The group then transitioned into a process to establish 9 guiding statements that complete the thought of “In 2027, the City of Rosemount..”. These statements were then categorized into four larger topic areas to serve as an expansion on the pre-existing Strategic Plan. General topic areas developed include: • Growing Rosemount • Connecting & Engaging the Community • Enhancing Quality of Life • Developing a High Performing Organization At the next meeting, the group will set specific & measurable goals and action steps for each of the four categories, along with a calendar of when progress should be realized on each initiative. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the City Council and upon a motion by Droste, second by Essler, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:15pm Respectfully Submitted, Logan Martin City Administrator
