Senior Programs - We recently started two virtual program series for seniors, allowing participants to stay safely active and connected: • The Aging Mastery Program® (AMP) informs, encourages, and supports participants in taking steps to improve their lives and engage in their community. Developed by the National Council on Aging, the program empowers participants to make and maintain small but impactful changes. It incorporates evidence -informed materials, group discussion, peer support, and small rewards to build skills and tools to manage health, maintain economic security, and contribute in society. The group gathers virtually on Zoom weekly for eight weeks for guided discussion and connection. • We are partnering with AmeriCorps Seniors to host Positively Stop Our Stressing (+S.O.S.), a virtual course in stress reduction. The 5-week program aims to teach easy stress management skills and tools. Participants develop greater awareness of their mind and body connection and how that relates to overall wellbeing. Discussion topics include: deep breathing, guided imagery, mindful eating, gratitude practice and more. Puzzle Exchange - Rosemount hosted its first ever puzzle exchange in January. Community members dropped off almost 400 puzzles the week of January 11-15`h to the Parks & Rec offices! These puzzles were quarantined, sanitized and brought over to the Steeple Center where seniors could come and "shop" in a safe and private setting. The puzzles found new homes with dozens of seniors throughout the community. The program was very well received, and we hope to offer it again in the future. Daddy Daughter Dance - The Parks and Recreation Department continues to create the popular activity boxes for delivery to residents' front doors. Our next box is the Daddy and Daughter Dance at Home event. Participants will make many wonderful memories while dancing at home, participating in fun activities together and creating crafts and keepsakes to remember the evening. This box includes a themed invitation, a table setting for two, party items and photo props, music suggestions, crafts projects, a fancy crown and a boutonniere and corsage for the couple. Finally, we have coordinated a surprise Zoom event with Princess Winter Belle who will greet the couples with a story time and she will lead fun dances to do together. Due to the popularity, we created and sold 103 Daddy/Daughter Dance event boxes.
