ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: None 3. APPROVAL OF THE JANUARY 29, 2018 SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES: MOTION by Bartz to approve the minutes of the January 29, 2018 meeting. SECOND by Young. Ayes: 7 Nays: 0 Motion passed. 4. AUDIENCE INPUT: None 5. DISCUSSION (Response to Audience Input): None 6. OLD BUSINESS: a. Horseshoe Lake Park Sun Shelter — Schultz revisited the six previously discussed shelters and presented additional options. The Commission preferred the shelter featured on the cover of "Outside Architecture," a black and tan structure by Icon Shelter Systems. MOTION by Lincoln to pursue including this structure in the park project bid package. SECOND by Young. Ayes: 8 Nays: 0 Motion passed. 7. NEW BUSINESS: a. Commission Members to Review Playground Proposals — Staff asked for up to three members to assist in the review of new playground proposals for Lions, Connemara and Chippendale Parks. MOTION by Bartz to have Mcdonald, Nelson and Speich assist staff with the review of the playground submittals. SECOND by Eliason. Ayes: 8 Nays: 0 Motion passed. b. Meeting dates for March, May and December 2018. — Due to conflicts, staff recommends the Commission adjust the regular meeting schedule for the months March, May and December. MOTION by Farrell to change the regular meeting dates to the proposed dates below. SECOND by Bartz. Ayes: 8 Nays: 0 Motion passed. 4th Monday Conflict Proposed meeting date March 26, 2018 Spring Break ISD 196 March 19, 2018 May 28, 2018 Memorial Day May 21, 2018 December 24, 2018 Christmas Eve December 17, 2018 -1- PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION February 26, 2018 Regular Meeting c. Director's Report — The park improvement fund balance as of January 31, 2018 was $575,728.90. No grants or donations were received and there were no expenditures. Schultz provided updates on recent happenings in the parks and recreation department including activities for seniors and the Daddy Daughter Dance. There was discussion regarding the request for neighborhood rinks at Ailesbury and Greystone Parks. MOTION by Young to further investigate neighborhood skating sheets of ice for Ailesbury and Greystone Parks. SECOND by Nelson. Ayes: 8 Nays: 0 Motion passed. Request for a shelter at Bloomfield Park was also discussed. Schultz will conducted a survey through the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association (MRPA) to find out who has recently constructed a park shelter, obtain drawings and bring that information back to the group. He will also get the dimensions for the shelters at Central and Jaycee Parks. Final update was on the Inver Grove Heights ice agreement. Improvement projects must still be bid out by the City of Inver Grove Heights and the City of Rosemount must agree to accept the bids before moving forward. ADJOURNMENT - MOTION by Farrell to adjourn the meeting. SECOND by Bartz. Ayes: 8 Nays: 0 Motion passed.
