Declaration of Surplus Property – Public Works Department EXECUTIVE SUMMARY City Council Regular Meeting: March 16, 2021 AGENDA ITEM: Declaration of Surplus Property – Public Works Department AGENDA SECTION: Consent PREPARED BY: Chuck Jacobus Public Works Supervisor Streets/Utilities AGENDA NO. 6.f. ATTACHMENTS: LMI Chemical Pump Asset List APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to declare the item listed in the executive summary as surplus property and for staff to appropriately dispose of the items. BACKGROUND The Public Works Department is asking that the City Council declare the LMI chemical pumps with the attached fixed asset list as surplus property. The City of Rosemount is changing over to a new style of chemical pumps and therefore we do not have a need for the LMI chemical pumps any longer. The LMI chemical pumps listed in the attached asset list are no longer used within the City’s operations. Rather than sell or dispose the pumps, staff would like to donate these to the Water Utility Treatment Technology (WUTT) program. The approximate value to sell the pumps would be an estimated $1,000. The WUTT program is a course which the American Public Works Academy has partnered with St. Paul Community and Technical College. The program is designed to teach people who are new to the industry and people who are interested and want to get started in the industry. This donation would help people get their hands on a physical piece of equipment to help them better understand how to repair and maintain this style of Chemical pump. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends the City Council approve the recommended action.
