ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: ELF RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the hiring of Adam Kienberger for the position of Community Development Director. SUMMARY The City recently advertised for the position of Community Development Director to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of the previous director. Ten individuals were asked to participate in an initial interview. Three finalists were invited back for a final interview on March 25, which included an informal meet and greet with staff & Council, a facilities/City tour, and two panel interviews. The perspectives of all staff that participated in the process were discussed and considered. We were fortunate to have had 3 wonderful finalists and having to pick between 3 high-quality people with varied skill sets was not an easy decision. As a result of this thorough process, staff is pleased to recommend Adam Kienberger be hired as the City’s next Community Development Director. Adam has worked for 7 years in Farmington as their Community Development Director and in this role, he serves as the Executive Director of the Farmington Economic Development Authority (EDA). He was also the Economic Development Specialist at the City of Lakeville for over 8 years. He has a proven track record of success and has strong leadership skills. Adam has a Bachelor’s in Urban and Regional Studies with a Marketing minor from MN State University, Mankato, a Certificate in Economic Development from Hamline University, and is a ThinkGreat Leadership Link graduate. He brings a wealth of knowledge about regional issues as well as a wide network of resources and relationships. Adam will begin work on April 19th and we look forward to welcoming him to our team. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Council approve the hiring of Adam Kienberger for the position of Community Development Director.
