In recognition of the commitment of our City government to maintain a safe and effective infrastructure
for a growing community, the City Council is asked to join in the designation of May 16-22 as National
Public Works Week. The national theme of this observance is “Stronger Together”. Public Works, by
working together, the impact citizens and public works professionals can have on their communities is
magnified and results in the ability to accomplish goals once thought unattainable. Public Works helps
maintain a community’s strength by working together to provide an infrastructure of services in
transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater treatment, public buildings and spaces, parks, and
grounds, emergency management and first response, solid waste, and right-of-way management. Public
Works provides togetherness needed for collaboration with all the stakeholders in capital projects,
infrastructure solutions, and quality of life services.
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, public works services provided in the City of Rosemount are an integral part of
our citizens’ everyday lives; and
WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is vital to the efficient
operation of public works systems and programs such as water, sewers, streets, and public
buildings; and
WHEREAS, the health, safety and comfort of Rosemount residents greatly depends on
these facilities and services; and
WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design,
and construction is vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of public works officials;
NOW THEREFORE, as Mayor of the City of Rosemount, I hereby do proclaim the week
of May 16 through 22, 2021 as National Public Works Week in the City of Rosemount. I
call upon all the citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the issues
involved in providing our public works and to recognize the contributions which public
works officials make every day to our health, safety, comfort and quality of life.
DATED THIS 18th day of May, 2021.
