DISCUSSION
The ESC Outreach & Education for 2021 were approved at the December Commission Meeting. Some
outreach items have been assigned to specific commissioners for completion, such as some of the blog
posts. The intent of this item is to review the calendar for updates and share ideas. Highlights are below: :
1. Recap of Home & Business Expo at Hope Field House on May 8.
2. The ESC will be staffing a booth at Leprechaun Days on July 23 (5:00PM – 11:00PM) and July 24
(1:00PM – 11:00PM).
a. Firefighter Relief Association Pancake Breakfast TBD – staffing compostable cutlery &
dishes disposal
b. Ideas from previous meeting
i. Upcycled wildlife homes (e.g. toad abodes) demonstration/activity/examples
ii. 3 sisters gardens (corn, beans, squash; Native American tradition & origin story)
iii. Gardening when you lack yard space
iv. Ask a master gardener
v. Teracycle box
vi. Seed exchange/swap
c. Katie will bring tent
3. Blog post on toads, frogs, water quality & medication recycling
4. Blog post on American Flag disposal
5. Blog post on native plants & pollinators
6. Potential activities – seed/plant/swap/exchange/library
a. Farmers market 3 sisters gardens
7. Upcoming events & promotions by others:
a. Landscaping for Clean Water workshops – live workshops complete
b. Burnsville Native Plant Market
c. Landscape Revival Native Plant Market & Expo
