DISCUSSION
The ESC Outreach & Education for 2021 were approved at the December Commission Meeting. Some
outreach items have been assigned to specific commissioners for completion, such as some of the blog
posts. The intent of this item is to review the calendar for updates and share ideas. Highlights are below:
1. The ESC will be staffing a booth at Leprechaun Days on July 23 (5:00PM – 11:00PM) and July 24
(1:00PM – 11:00PM). – Taylor & Tina captaining event
a. Firefighter Relief Association Waffle & Sausage Breakfast July 17 (7:00AM – 11:00AM) –
staffing compostable cutlery & dishes disposal
b. Ideas from previous meetings
i. Adopt-a-drain pledges and display
ii. Laptop at event – still looking into this
iii. Flushable wipes display
iv. Cards with information on organics drop locations
v. Information on where people can buy native pollinator friendly plants
vi. Upcycled wildlife homes (e.g. toad abodes) demonstration/activity/examples
vii. 3 sisters gardens (corn, beans, squash; Native American tradition & origin story)
viii. Gardening when you lack yard space
ix. Ask a master gardener
x. Teracycle box
xi. Seed exchange/swap
c. Katie will bring tent
2. June Blog post on American Flag disposal - Erin
3. Blog post on Fireworks, litter, and water health
4. Blog post on what you can/not burn and getting rid of stuff correctly
5. June 21-27 is pollinator week https://www.pollinator.org/pollinator-week
6. Potential activities – seed/plant/swap/exchange/library
a. Farmers market 3 sisters gardens
