BACKGROUND
In the Fall of 2019, the police Department opened a hiring process to fill three vacancies. Following an
extensive testing process that included several interviews, a scenario-based exercise, a written evaluation,
and a ride-along, Officer Gage Litzner was selected to fill the first of the three vacancies and started with
the Department in January of 2020.
Gage is originally from Rosemount and attended Rosemount High School and the School of
Environmental Studies at the Minnesota Zoo. He went on to attend Inver Hills Community College
where he obtained his Associates of Science in Law Enforcement. Gage was also a law enforcement
Explorer from the ages of 14 to 21 with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and was a Park Ranger with
the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office from 2015 to 2017. Before becoming a licensed officer with the City
of Rosemount, he worked as a Park Patrol Agent with the Minneapolis Park Police Department from
2017-2020.
In his off time, Gage enjoys outdoor activities including fishing, ice fishing, playing ice hockey, golfing and
hiking. He especially loves spending time Up North. When not outside (or working!), Gage can be found
with friends or playing video games.
Gage chose to work in Rosemount because he grew up here. He feels honored to be in a position where
he can help people, and keep people safe, all in the community he’s from. For him, it’s extremely
rewarding to give back to his community.
Throughout his first year, Gage has enjoyed watching the city continue to grow and spending time with his
community. He appreciates the rich history that Rosemount provides, while becoming a modern city and
looks forward to seeing it grow over the next 30 years of his law enforcement career!

family.
