Director of Public Works AGENDA NO. 7.b. / City Engineer ATTACHMENTS: APPROVED BY: BLE RECOMMENDED ACTION: None, informational only BACKGROUND The Metropolitan Council (Met Council), as a regional planning organization, has provided various tools, grants and assistance in the past to the communities in the metropolitan area. One of those tools was developed to better understand the economic impacts of encouraging water efficiency with residents. This tool assists cities in understanding how operation and maintenance costs as well as capital expenditures can potentially be reduced through low cost water conservation efforts. DISCUSSION As part of the city’s efforts to implement more robust water conservation measures, Brian Davis, Met Council’s Water Supply Planning Senior Engineer, provided details on the water efficiency tool that was developed. Since the city has been reviewing water supply planning this tool can provide an important link in the capital planning process. Dr. Davis will be present at the commission to discuss efforts in developing the tool as well as providing a demonstration of the tool.
