RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the hiring of Nick Egger for the position of
Public Works Director
BACKGROUND
This summer, the City advertised for the position of Public Works Director. Seven applicants were invited
to participate in an initial interview. Four individuals were invited back for a final interview on June 16,
which included an informal meet and greet with staff and Council, a facilities tour, a City tour, and a panel
interview.
The City was very fortunate to have had 4 uniquely skilled and professional finalists to choose from. Staff
is pleased to report that Nick Egger was selected as the top candidate for the Public Works Director position.
Nick comes to us from the City of Hastings, having served there for almost 19 years. He rose through the
ranks as Assistant City Engineer, City Engineer, and has spent the last 6.5 years as their Public Works
Director. Nick led major projects including the Riverfront Renaissance and the Hwy 61 Bridge project.
Nick is also the incoming President of the APWA and is a recognized Public Works leader in Minnesota.
We are excited to bring Nick’s extensive knowledge, enthusiasm, and public service dedication to our
team. His first day of work with us is September 7. Please join us in welcoming Nick to the City of
Rosemount.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Council approve the hiring of Nick Egger for the position of Public Works
Director.
