RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to support the development of a pump track at the
east end of Schwarz Pond Park.
ISSUE
Several years ago, the City developed a small dirt track for bikers to ride on in Schwarz Pond Park. The
track was under-utilized, and the site grew over with weeds due to the lack of people riding on the track.
Over the last couple years, staff has had some inquiries asking if the City would consider building a pump
track for local bikers. A pump track is similar to a BMX track but does not have a set start and finish line.
A pump track is just a continual loop that people can ride on.
Included in the packet is a draft plan for a pump track that city staff would build in Schwarz Pond Park.
City staff had indicated that we have material in storage that could be used for building the track and the
equipment that is necessary to complete the job. It is expected that the project would be completed this
fall.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending that the Parks and Recreation Commission support the development of a pump
track at the east end of Schwarz Pond Park.
