HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.a. 20210921 ESC Minutes ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 21, 2021 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Environment & Sustainability Commission (ESC) of the City of Rosemount was called to order on September 21, 2021, at 5:36 p.m. in the Conference Room, City Hall, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount. Attendees included: Commission Vice-Chair Victoria Schlautman, and Commissioners Renee Burman, Katie Koch-Laveen, Taylor Sutton and Erin Delaney. Chair Kim Ciresi, and Commissioners Kristen Andrews and Tina Angerer were absent. Staff present included the following; - Public Works Director Egger, City Engineer Erickson and Stormwater Specialist Byron ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Burman Second by Delaney Motion to approve the minutes of the August 17, 2021 Environment and Sustainability Commission meeting. Ayes: 5. Nays: 0. Motion carried. PRESENTATIONS OLD BUSINESS 5.a. Air Quality Research and Education Stormwater Specialist Byron presented State and Federal information to commissioners about air permit regulatory processes and reporting of air quality issues/suspected regulatory violations. Commissioners and staff discussed the responsibilities of staff and the commission related to environmental duties and roles in respect to air quality concerns. 5.b. Education & Outreach Calendar Commissioners discussed upcoming blog posts and community events. 5.c. 2021 Goals Progress Reports Commissioner Delaney provided a brief update to staff and commissioners. Delaney will give complete goal update at the October commission meeting. 5.d. Environment & Sustainability Commission Webpage Discussion Stormwater Specialist Byron presented updates made to the Commission’s webpage. NEW BUSINESS 6.a. Partnership with Technology Task Force on Electric Vehicle Programs Stormwater Specialist Byron updated the commission on the potential partnership with the Technology Task Force (TTF). The TTF has been focusing on electric vehicle programs and would like the assistance of the ESC to research specific issues. ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 21, 2021 6.b. Electronic Public Viewing Options Stormwater Specialist Byron updated the commission on Open Meetings Laws. Commissioners requested that the public have access to the meeting link for residents to listen and engage with commissioners during the meeting. 6.c. Goal 6: Pollinator & Native Plants Policy Recommendations – Commissioner Delaney Presentation postponed until the October commission meeting. ANNOUNCEMENTS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT 8.a. Set Next Meeting Agenda for October 12, 2021 Commissioners requested the next actions needed to achieve for Green Step Cities.
