RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve Change Order #1 for the UMore Ballfield
Project.
BACKGROUND
In the spring of 2021, the City Council awarded a bid for the second phase of the UMore Ballfield Project.
The project is coming to the end but during the construction of the project a few changes have been
needed that have resulted in staff requesting the City Council consider approving change order #1.
The total amount of the change order #1 is $57,358.85. Please see the attached change order form and
architect letter for further details.
The largest portion of the change order is for the addition of a batting cage at Shannon Park. A donation
from RAAA is funding one half of the batting cage project and it is recommended that the City cover the
remainder of the cost. The portion of the batting cage project that the City would cover is a new trail to
the batting cage making it accessible.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending the City Council approve Change Order #1 for the UMore Ballfield Project.

Re: UMore Ballfields Phase II – Change Order #1
Mr. Schuster,
Attached you will find Change Order #1 for the aforementioned project which has been signed by
WSB and the Contractor and is ready for formal execution by the City. Please review and, if
acceptable to you, sign and date the Owner section of the Change Order form. Once processed,
please keep for your records and return a copy for WSB and Friedges (scanned document is fine).
The following bulleted list provides a summary of Change Order #1:
• Item 1 through 4 relates to adjustments to the extents of the sidewalk connections due to
the location of where the proposed sidewalk matches with the existing sidewalk control
joints on the north end of the project.
• Items 5 and 6 include modifications to the existing parking stalls of phase 1 to be compliant
with the latest ADA compliance requirements.
• Item 7 – 12 account for work related to the addition of fencing located on field #3 along
the first base foul line.
• Item 13 relates to modifications in reducing the diameter of the top rail.
• Item 14 accounts for modifying installation of erosion control blanket in lieu of straw mulch
in the medians of the parking lot.
• Items 15 accounts for all work associated with the batting cage at Shannon Park.
