RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve resolution approving the memorandum of
agreement between the State of Minnesota and local governments and authorizing
participation in national opioid settlements
BACKGROUND
The City Attorney recently informed staff that the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office has announced that
an agreement had been reached that will govern how funds from recent settlements with opioid companies
will be distributed in Minnesota.
In order to participate and remain eligible for future grant funds or allocations of the settlement, the City
Council will need to adopt a resolution authorizing a representative of the City to execute the Minnesota
Opioids State-Subdivision Memorandum of Agreement and related participation forms. Adoption of the
resolution and subsequent execution of the forms need to be completed by January 2, 2022.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending that the City Council approve the resolution to ensure that Rosemount can stay
involved and retain an option for opioid settlement distribution in Minnesota.
