RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve the Labor Agreement for the AFSCME,
Local No. 3857 Collective Bargaining Unit for the Years 2022 through 2023 and to
Authorize the Necessary Signatures
BACKGROUND
Negotiations with the AFSCME union have been completed for a 2022 through 2023 contract. The
Collective Bargaining Unit and City have reached a tentative agreement on the following items:
Wages in the 2 Year Contract (2021 & 2022)
2.5% increase + Market Adjustment on January 1, 2022
2.5% increase on January 1, 2023
No other items of significance were addressed or changed during the negotiations. City staff also
conveyed direction from the Council that analysis needs to be done in the future regarding insurance
premiums and overall benefit costs.
RECOMMENDATION
The AFSCME members voted on December 14 and approved these contract changes. Therefore, it is
recommended that Council approve the labor agreement for the AFSCME, Local No. 3857 Collective
Bargaining Unit for the years 2022 through 2023 and to authorize the necessary signatures.
