ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Discuss results of the annual evaluation of the City Administrator and provide report on the Closed Meeting of January 4, 2021 BACKGROUND In accordance with the terms of the employment contract with City Administrator Martin, the City Council conducted a performance evaluation during a closed meeting held on January 4, 2021. As required by State Statute 13D.05 Subd.3, the City Council must summarize the conclusions of its evaluation at the next open meeting. Emmy Foster, Assistant City Administrator, provided each Councilmember with a digital survey to numerically assess the City Administrator’s performance in 7 categories, along with a review of progress on key annual priorities. A summary table of the 7 categories discussed is below: Work Area Weighted Avg. (scale of 1 to 5) Organizational Management 4.5 Fiscal / Business Management 3.8 Relationship with the City Council 4.3 Long Range Planning 3.4 Relationship with Public 3.8 Intergovernmental Relations 3.8 Professional & Personal Development 4.6 The City Council and City Administrator discussed areas of strength and quality performance demonstrated in the last year of employment, and reviewed opportunities for continued growth. Overall, the City Council’s comments and evaluations indicated that the City Administrator is meeting or exceeding their expectations each category. Additional discussion or summary comments from the Council can be provided at the January 18th meeting. RECOMMENDATION Staff requests the City Council provide a summary of the annual evaluation of the City Administrator, as required by Minn. Statute 13D.05 Subd. 3.
