BACKGROUND
The Parks and Recreation Department is asking that the City Council consider declaring the skate
sharpener at the Rosemount Arena as surplus property. The equipment was purchased in 2014 is set to be
replaced in the 2022. The current machine has a market value of approximately $2,000 and staff hope to
sell the unit to a used equipment broker. A new skate sharpener will cost approximately $4,800 for a
double sharpener that allows both skates to be sharpened at the same time. The new model of sharpener
also only requires a couple of minutes of training before use, thus allowing all staff to sharpen skates.
By declaring this item as surplus property, it will authorize staff to appropriately recycle, sell or dispose of
the equipment.
The item listed below are will soon no longer be used within the City’s operations.
