ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS
June 26, 2019
1. CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was
held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 4:45 p.m. at the Steeple Center, 14375 South Robert Trail,
Rosemount.
Commissioner Chair Bharath called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Bauman,
Gallagher, Henkemeyer, Leholm, Nozal, and Ramesh were present. Assistant City Administrator Emmy
Foster, Recording Secretary Sandi Amundson, and Former Council Member Kim Shoe-Corrigan were
also present. Council Member Jeff Weisensel, and Commissioners Armstrong, Chumbley, Kenninger,
and Laurent were absent.
2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
None
Motion by Bharath. Second by Nozal.
Motion to Adopt the Agenda.
Ayes: 7
Nays: 0. Absent: 4. Motion carried.
3. AUDIENCE INPUT
None
4. CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Bharath. Second by Bauman
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda.
Ayes: 7
Nays: 0. Absent: 4. Motion carried.
5. OLD BUSINESS
a. Upcoming Events Reminder
i. Splash Pad Summer Celebration/Kindness Rocks (July 18 – 11 a.m.)
The final “Music in the Park” band starts at 10 a.m. and will be finished by 11 a.m.
We will need help with setup, assisting the kids with the markers and
painting/writing on the Kindness Rocks, distributing the freezies and trinkets,
collecting the food shelf donations, and cleaning up afterwards. Event may be
canceled/postponed in the event of bad weather, watch your emails and the City
website for information.
ii. Leprechaun Days Parade (July 27) & Booth (July 26 & 27)
The Council has a booth in Central Park that Youth Commissioners assist with. It’s
an opportunity to meet citizens, engage with the public, hear ideas, and share what
the Youth Commission is all about. Commissioners can sign up for a 2-hour block
of time helping with the booth. Commissioners are invited to walk with the City
Council in the parade.
iii. Night to Unite (August 6 – 5:30 p.m.)
Youth Commissioners are invited to participate with Fire Department, Police
Department, Council Members and Public Works crews. This is another
opportunity to engage with citizens, hear ideas, and share what the Youth
Commission is all about. Groups are assigned to neighborhood block parties. There
will be donations for the Food Shelf at various locations.
6. NEW BUSINESS
a. Discussion of Meeting Topics, Tours & Guests
Commissioners are invited to think of places you want to visit, things you’d like to discuss, and
people you’d like to have present at future meetings. Past events have included the Library,
Family Resource Center/360 Communities, City Hall, Police Station, Fire Station, Water
Tower/Well House, and Wetland Areas. In addition, the Commission goals will be reviewed
and updated at a future meeting.
b. Roundtable Discussion
Everyone took a turn and shared their current and upcoming activities with the group. Topics
included trips, upcoming events, and summer plans.
7. REPORTS
a. Commission Member Reports
None
b. Next Meeting Date - The next meeting of the Youth Commission is scheduled for
Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 3:45 p.m. at the Steeple Center, 14375 South Robert Trail,
Room 202, Rosemount. *There will not be a regular Youth Commission meeting in July.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Bharath and seconded by Nozal that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 4:26 p.m.
