CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 3:46 p.m. via Zoom. Chairperson J. Kenninger called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Bauman, Chumbley, Halla, Henkemeyer, A. Kenninger, Leholm, Nozal, Passeri, Ramesh, and Stenger were present. Assistant City Administrator Emmy Foster, Council Member Jeff Weisensel, Recording Secretary Sandi Amundson, City Administrator Logan Martin and Fire Department Representative Jim Voelker were also present. Commissioner Standing, and Former Councilmember Kim Shoe-Corrigan were absent. 2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA None Motion by J. Kenninger. Second by Ramesh Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 11 Nays: 0. Absent: 1. Motion carried. 3. AUDIENCE INPUT None 4. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by J. Kenninger. Second by Ramesh Motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Ayes: 11 Nays: 0. Absent: 1. Motion carried. 5. OLD BUSINESS a. Youth Commission Scholarship  Commissioners made the decision to have the RHS Foundation transfer the scholarship funds to the Yambing family scholarship. 6. NEW BUSINESS a. Fire Department Representative Jim Voelker  Assistant Fire Chief Voelker discussed his years of service. He has been with the City of Rosemount for almost 24 years, starting employment in 1997. Voelker has been the Assistant Fire Chief for 11 years.  Rosemount’s Fire Department consists of all volunteer firefighters. Each firefighter is paid per call that are in attendance.  Examples of calls the Fire Department may be requested to handle include, hazmat calls, fire related calls, and vehicle accidents.  Voelker discussed opportunities such as becoming an Explorer. Youth, ages 14 to 20 can join the Fire Explorers Scouting of America. If anyone is interested, they can contact Assistant Chief Voelker. b. Climate Generation Upcoming Events  Foster mentioned the Climate Generation events. This information was emailed out to the Youth Commissioners last week. c. Leadership Lesson  Weisensel discussed the Leadership Lessons and the importance of these lessons. The monthly leadership lesson follow-up/responses should be sent to Weisensel for tracking purposes.  This week’s discussion topic was Reflecting on Action that included 5 items.  Be sure to focus on what you are learning for each topic. d. Roundtable Discussion  School, sports, college plans, vacations, and upcoming activities were discussed with the group.  City Administrator Logan Martin shared a kindness project opportunity that he’s been made aware of; anyone interested in the 13 Acts of Kindness should contact Rachael Stucky. The project is expected to begin during the first week of March. 7. REPORTS a. Commission Member Reports b. Next Meeting Date – Next meeting date will be February 24, 2021 at 3:45 p.m. This meeting will be virtual. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by J. Kenninger and seconded by Henkemeyer that the meeting be adjourned.
