ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS
October 27, 2021
1. CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on
Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 3:41 p.m. at Fire Station 1 at 14700 Shannon Parkway.
Chairperson Kenninger called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Alex, Bartz, Buck, Burman,
Jacobson, Kuseske, Lovin, Maskel, Meyers, Mohanty, Pemberton, Rhoades, State, Thiagarajan, and Thomas
were present. Assistant City Administrator Emmy Foster, Council Member Jeff Weisensel, Assistant Fire
Chief Jim Voelker and Recording Secretary Sandi Amundson were also present. Commissioner Reed was
absent.
2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda
Motion by Kenninger. Second by Thiagarajan.
Motion to Adopt the Agenda.

Nays: 0 Absent: 1. Motion carried.
3. AUDIENCE INPUT
None
4. CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Kenninger. Second by Buck.
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda.
Ayes: 16

5. OLD BUSINESS
None
6. NEW BUSINESS
a. Assistant Fire Chief Jim Voelker
A tour of the facility by Voelker occurred prior to the meeting.
Voelker shared information regarding Fire Prevention Week and the Explorer post. He shared his job
duties, background, and the operations of the fire department. He discussed items including number
of calls, number of firefighters, long-term department plans such as a desired future third fire station
in the U-More Development, the Youth Fire Explorer program, the State Fair fire prevention
competition for Fire Explorers, and HazMat training.
b. Laura Baker and Jon Loch, Rosemount Area Arts Council Representatives
The RAAC representatives were not able to attend the meeting. Foster shared the pertinent
information with the group regarding the Annual Tree Lighting the is scheduled for Saturday,
November 20 at 6 p.m. at the Steeple Center. Further information will be emailed to the group.
c. Goals Wrap-Up
Weisensel reminded the Youth Commissioners to review the draft because they will be voting on
them at the next meeting.
d. Leadership Lesson
Topic of the Month: Planning an Event
Weisensel asked that the Youth Commissioners submit their leadership sheet on event planning.
e. Roundtable Discussion
Youth Commission members shared their activities and plans including school/homework, trips,
Halloween, upcoming holidays, band, and sports.

b. Next Meeting Date
The next meeting date will be November 17, 2021 at 3:45 p.m. in Room 221 of the Community
Center, 13885 South Robert Trail.
*A Tour of the Community Center/Ice Area is at 3 p.m. before the meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Kenninger and seconded by Pemberton that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously, and the meeting was adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
