CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 3:46 p.m. at the Steeple Center, 14375 South Robert Trail, Room 200. Vice Chair Burman called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Buck, Jacobson, Maskel, Meyers, Pemberton, Reed, Rhoades, State, and Thomas present. Assistant City Administrator Emmy Foster, Council Member Jeff Weisensel, Community Development Director Adam Kienberger, and Recording Secretary Sandi Amundson were also present. Commissioners Alex, Bartz, Kenninger, Kuseske, Lovin, Mohanty, and Thiagarajan and Recording Secretary Amundson were absent. 2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Motion by Burman. Second by State. Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 10 Nays: 0 Absent: 7. Motion carried. 3. AUDIENCE INPUT None 4. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Burman. Second by Maskel. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Ayes: 10 Nays: 0 Absent: 7. Motion carried. 5. OLD BUSINESS None 6. NEW BUSINESS a. Introduction of Community Development Director Adam Kienberger Adam Kienberger introduced himself to the group and explained his role as the Director of Community Development. He discussed the department and the many functions within. Kienberger shared his background, including his education, work experiences and his career path. Kienberger explained various projects happening within Rosemount, discussed the role of the Planning Commission and Port Authority, and answered questions from the Youth Commissioners. *At 4:18 p.m. Vice Chair Burman needed to leave the meeting and assigned Commissioner Maskel to run the remainder of the meeting in her absence. b. Leadership Lesson – Topic of the Month: “Leadership is Like…” Weisensel asked that the Youth Commissioners to share and discuss this week’s leadership lesson. In addition, he challenged the group to find the Teddy Roosevelt quote on leadership that they think he (Weisensel) likes best. c. Roundtable Discussion Youth Commission members shared their summer plans, spring break, and school activities. Foster thanked the group for the generous response to the St. Patrick’s Day card event. Over 50 cards were created and collected. Commissioner Jacobsen will drop them off at The Rosemount after today’s meeting. 7. REPORTS a. Commission Member Reports None b. Next Meeting Date – April 27, 2022 at 3:45 p.m. at the Steeple Center, 14375 South Robert Trail, Room 202. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Maskel and seconded by Pemberton that the meeting be adjourned.
