DISCUSSION
Commission Chair Schlautman requested a discussion be held to decide whether the commission as a
whole would benefit from having quarterly (or as needed) work sessions.
Commissioners would submit topics for the agenda. Staff would then review topics and send out an
agenda. Staff would attend work sessions to take formal minutes. Work session discussion would be
required to stay within the set agenda items.
The Commission has had up to three work sessions or special meetings last year, two of which were joint
work sessions with the City Council: one for booth planning for Leprechaun Days, one for an
enforcement update on an industrial air permit, and one for a progress report to Council and Council
feedback. Work sessions are not a normal feature of other City commissions.
