DISCUSSION
The Environment and Sustainability Commission (ESC) developed an Education & Outreach Calendar for
2022. It is a working document that will be updated as the year progresses. Some outreach items will be
assigned to specific commissioners for completion, such as some of the blog posts. The intent of this item
is to review the calendar for updates and share ideas. Highlights are below:
1. August blog post ideas:
a. Pick a Pledge – complements Leprechaun Days booth theme
b. Certifications for the Green Minded (e.g. Master Recycler, Minnesota Water Steward,
Master Naturalist, AIS Detector, etc.)
2. Holidays/events of note
a. July – Leprechaun Days Midsummer Faire July 28 – 30
b. July – City Newsletter
c. August 2 – Night to Unite/National Night Out
d. August 15 – Organics Drop Site Opens
i. Lots of education and communications by County on this
e. August 20 – Organics Drop Site Kick-off Event by Dakota County 9am-noon
3. Leprechaun Days Planning
a. Event captains – Victoria & Tina
4. Speaker from VRWJPO at next meeting in August
5. Dakota County hosting We Are Water Minnesota October 13 – December 5
SUMMARY
Assign education activities for June/July.
