RECOMMENDED ACTIONS: Motion to fill Commission vacancies with the following
appointment:
• Neal Shoe appoint for a 3-year term on the Environment & Sustainability Commission
• John Powell appoint for a 3-year term on the Planning Commission
• Laura Miller appoint for a 3-year term on the Utility Commission
BACKGROUND
Each year the City Council appoints commissioners to various city boards. The following seats remained
open for residents to apply; one seat on Planning Commission, one seat on Utility Commission and one
seat on the Environment & Sustainability Commission.
John Powell, Laura Miller and Neal Shoe all applied to serve on a commission and met for an interview
with Logan Martin, Adam Kienberger, Nick Egger and Mayor Droste. We greatly appreciate the interest
shown by all to serve the community and believe all applicants will be a great addition to a commission.
To align the term dates with the current commissioners; the terms will end on March 31, 2025. If
approved, the only seat remaining open on a city commission is the youth seat on the Environmental &
Sustainability Commission.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the following actions: Neal Shoe appoint for a 3-year term on the Environment &
Sustainability Commission, John Powell appoint for a 3-year term on the Planning Commission and Laura
Miller appoint for a 3-year term on the Utility Commission.
